March 12, 2013 with the Codgers

codgerslive1
Being the Tuesday before St. Patrick’s Day, I was very fortunate to have the Codgers as my special guests in the forest.  The self-described “Celtic-Americana” band, who plays the majority of their shows in the Corktown neighborhood, made a rare appearance in Ferndale, along with guest fiddle player Alison Perkins. Alison also plays on their brand new record, which I actually recorded. You can check it out here.

Below you can hear our DJ set, which had me trading songs with Matt, Steve, and Patrick throughout the night. There was a decent sprinkling of Irish music throughout the night, but we didn’t stick to the theme exclusively. Since the last two Tuesdays had been exclusive themes, I was able to debut a few of the many great records I’ve acquired over the past six weeks. I also made an audience recording of the Codgers live set, which can be enjoyed at the link below.
