FAT TUESDAY in the Forest, March 4, 2014 with Scott Bragg, Brad Hales and Dan Austin

IMG959088

For Fat Tuesday, also known as Mardi Gras, for the second year in a row awesome dude Scott Bragg suggested we spend the night playing music from the city with perhaps the richest and most unique musical history in America: New Orleans. This year we were lucky to have two additional great Detroit DJs join us: People’s Records Brad Hales and Dan Austin, aka DJ Hairy Nilsson. Both brought killer rare NOLA funk and R&B. Plus, to represent the Detroit’s (and Scott’s) Polish traditions, there were free paczkis and one polka song. Enjoy!

January 14, 2014 with Dan Austin and Ian Lee Lamb

DanAustinTravisWright
2014 in the forest kicked off with the triumphant return of Dan Austin, aka DJ Hairy Nilsson, who once again brought only the good stuff – top shelf soul and funk platters. But that’s not even close to all – Ian Lee Lamb also performed a very special solo set with his silky pipes, which was also recorded for your aural pleasure. Plus, the night kicked off with a pre-party hosted by the Beggars’ Steven Tuthill, celebrating the release of the new Supersuckers album. (So start the first set imagining you’ve just listened to the new Supersuckers album on repeat for two hours, and then the hard rock beginning quickly moving into soul might make a little bit more sense. Just a little.) Check it all out below!
