January 15, 2013 with Rich Hansen

richhansen

Rich Hansen made a welcome return to the forest, bringing wild and weird records from all over the world. Josh Sciberas claimed this was perhaps the greatest Tuesday night mix in history, and that means something since he’s been there for almost all of them. Maybe because the mix was just too hot to capture, the recording of the night failed, so you’ll have to put the mix together yourself song by song. Or we’ll have to do it again soon and see if we can top it. Anyways, it was a great night! Playlist below.

January 8, 2013 with Chris Tait and Love It to Death

photo

For the first Tuesday In the Forest of the year, I was joined by Chris Tait of the Electric Six and Belle Ghoul. Chris set up a pop up store in the Loving Touch of the Love It to Death apparel, which was manned by his partner Chris Fuller. Chris brought mainly new wave music, and as Carey said at one point in the night, “It is totally 1984 MTV in here right now!” It was also David Bowie’s 66th birthday, so we tossed some extra Bowie in throughout the night in tribute. Fun night!

December 4, 2012 with The Walking Beat

Usually when “bands” DJ, there are only one or at best two members of the band who get behind the turntables. When the Walking Beat were my guest DJs, four of the five members all took turns behind the turntables for a fun night of tunes ranging from country to electro. So much fun that I forgot to take pictures of everyone. But what matters is the music, and the full recording and playlist are below for your enjoyment. You can also check out the Walking Beat’s music here.

September 25, 2012 with Sean Clancy

I’ve known Sean Clancy for a long time, but only in transcribing the playlist did I discover that his handwriting is pretty horrible.  So as you listen along to these sweet jams, if the transcriptions are all wrong, blame Sean’s scribble as much as my poor transcription. Seriously though, this was a fun night – a weird mix with lots of heavy indie rock from Sean and soul music from me, plus They Might Be Giants from both of us. Enjoy!
